Webasto TC4 and Thermo Top EVO - D4 2013

Hi All

I purchased a Webasto TC4 today and had high hopes after reading Robbies thread about the D4 and TC4.

Installed, and unfortunately, every time I try to start the heater I get a "Message NOT Executed: START (ERROR: Unknown error!)" message.

I have had the car reprogrammed to give me the timer via the screen and it is set up for the remote.

My D4 is 2013, however, I couldn't find anywhere what year Robbies D4 was.

Has anyone successfully got the TC4 to for with the 2013 D4?

is your TC4 new or used? is the TC4 faulty, or is the wiring correctly done?
look like a wiring/communication issue

AND oh yeah , welcome!
an intro would be nice

Hi Motolab

Brand new TC4, wired into the rear plug where the T91 would normally go.

Car TC4
Purple with brown stripe - Red (+ve)
Black - Black (-ve)
Red - Yellow (Wbus)

Config updated with IID as per their FAQ:
IIDTool Menu->Car Config->HVAC Ventilation->
FBH Call Start is equal to Fitted radio.
Fuel Burning Heater is equal to Fitted parking heat.
Timed Climate is equal to Enable.

I'll double-check the wbus wire connection is good, but I suspect it is ok as a change from radio to pager in IID gave a function not supported message back from the TC4 instead of an unknown error.

I did find this from Webasto which does say that the TC4 should work.

as i do not have a D4, but a D3 my knowledge is limited to 25 years with FBH's and LR D2 and D3 Wink

i do not have knowlegde od D4 specific wiring

but the first thing i see in your refering doc is this:

ThermoCall/ThermoConnect for OE Telestarts
TC4 Entry & Advanced – Operation Modes
29.01.2019

Parameters for different ThermoCall Integrations / Operation mode:
 Operation mode setting
 1234op:0 – to be send via SMS to set steady mode
 Needed for Telestart receivers with a steady high input according the duration
 1234op:1 – to be send via SMS to set impulse mode
 Needed for Telestart receivers with a high impuls input to activate and deactivate heating or venting
 Attention: Turn off by the control device which turned the heater on
 Attention: The maximum duration of the ThermoCall must be lower than the set up in the driver
information system

so is that set right? for your model?

the rest of the document you are refering to is when using both a Telestart remote AND a ThermoCall
======
ThermoCall/ThermoConnect for OE Telestarts
Land Rover
======

so do you use also a Telestart or not? if not that document (and maybe the above parameter) has little use here IMHO

still, it could be a parameter in your TC4 who needs adjustment... so it talkes correctly to your LR and FBH
 Best regards

So I tried both of the messages as listed in the Webasto PDF......

The TC4 replied to both with "Unknown Message!"

Hi glen66, did you ever get this working? With the weather getting colder was wondering about a TC4 myself but looks like you never got it working?

Thanks

Rob
