Low coolant warning disable? |
|
Is it possible to disable the low coolant warning? Mine has started the occasional fault light syndrome usually triggered when I go over a bump or pot hole, I assume the sensor is in the expansion bottle but I don’t see any cables going into it. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I think closed circuit - light is off, and open circuit - light is on. I had a RRS in with a wire bridge across the plug terminals to ignore the issue. Chris

Just a temporary measure while I obtain one, gets a bit embarrassing when giving the outlaws a ride and they keep saying “what’s that red light on for, are we safe?) it hasn’t lost any coolant in the last five years I don’t see why it should now, famous last words I suppose with the luck I’ve had this year. I replaced my bottle and sensor.
It hasn’t lasted many years!!!
I guess I really should try and swap the sensor just incase it’s that, and not the float

Any recommendations for a good sensor supplier or complete replacement bottle, I have just sent an "eblag special" sensor back as it was a loose fit into the bottle, I don't want to risk losing my coolant again. It can when others can't,

Well the sensor doesn't need to be water tight.
I guess the answer is an OEM tank.
My ebay one didn't last many years until the warning returned

So what you are saying is if the sensor falls out of the bottom of expansion bottle no coolant will be lost? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

How does the sensor detect the water is low if it doesn’t come into contact with it?- I have just returned a sensor because it was a loose fitting and I was afraid of loosing the coolant It can when others can't,

Jag, LR, BMW
have a kinda of tube in the bottom of the tank, with the top sealed and bottom open for the reed switch to push into.
inside the tank the float with magnet, going up and down on the tube.
It was a great idea in theory, so there could be no leaks from it.
The downside it that the float can't be replaced, and is the most unreliable part!
