FBH broke !

Hi there,

So my FBH was running pretty sweet last winter, nice and consistent. Occasional non start, but once in a blue moon.

Ive fitted the fbh controller to operate with the fob, and i like to get it warmed up in colder months.

Noticed this autuum that the operation was becoming more intermittent . It will fire sometimes, but not always, sometimes it will cease midway.

Had a bit of spare time today so i removed it and disassembled according to robbies guide.

It wasn't as coked up as i imagines, some but not as much as some people had reported.

Reassembled and refitted. Checked all the connections and pipes. Fired her up with the remote, started straight away.

Was admiring her purring away, proud of myself that id tackled this job that id been procrastinating for a while, next thing i noticed some smoke coming from the unit itself. I looked closer and it didnt seem to be coming from the exhaust or anything. The flame went out and the fan seem to go like crazy for a bit before it shut down. Now it wont start!

Now it was getting dark and well past tea time, so packed up and tidied up, a bit miffed.

Not had time to investigate further, but i will do so. I have the webastro software and cable so will plug it in.

But for now , any ideas?

Was a bit concerned about the smoke coming from the unit, like ive shorted a cable or burnt a cable or something.

Cheers

Sounds like the unit overheated, perhaps an airlock in the coolant pipes.

Sounds like the engine wasn’t run first….. so the cooling fluid wasn’t (possible) in the FBH, since it is the highest point in the system ….

If so it is interlocked now…
 Best regards
