Cb radio and rj45 pass thru socket |
|
Hiya all, I'm after some help with this if possible I'm going to fit a midland cb radio in my discovery and the model I'm looking at has an rj45 plug on the Mic lead which plugs into the main unit, now what I've seen other people do is mount the main unit out of sight and then run an rj45 cable from there to a discreet socket so that the mic can be plugged in as and when required.
Now here's my question, what's the deal with rj45 sockets and the associated cables, do I need a particular type of rj45 pass thru socket or do I need a particular type of cable to make this work or are all rj45 plugs, sockets, cabling compatible with cb mic wiring if that makes sense??
All help appreciated

You should just be able to use an ethernet cable and straight through coupler or alternatively an ethernet extension cable with a male at one end and a female at the other.
