New Defender - I must be mad!
So I went to but a 2016 D4 HSE Lux in July from a Dealer, ended up ordering a new Defender
Defender was due in March / April 2023, except dealer told me three weeks ago it was driving end of October this year. I've debated whether I want it and can put ip with its compromises, but bit the bullet and confirmed it this week when I was in Japan.
Organising things has been a pain while away but did it with the help of Whats App and the dealer has been extremely good.
Arranged to collect the car yesterday afternoon when I returned home. Landed yesterday afternoon at 3pm, my driver took me to the dealer an our from Heathrow and went on his way back to Bath.
Finished the paperwork, looked at the car, was ready to drive home when:
- salesman noticed an error in the paperwork and so the finance couldn't be paid out
- key bits of the car and options I'd order were missing
So after everything, I could look at the car smell it and stroke it but not take it home
Salesman was great, gave me FPace 400e to get me home - nice car but the XC90 is better.
Anyway, long story short, he's delivering it today before we head to Gatwick tonight on holiday. He's also arranging for my local dealer to retro fit the missing bits.
So I've kept my XC90 and will see how we get on with the Defender and LR customer Service.
I must be mad getting into another LR!

Yep, you must be.
I had a new Defender for that day and I can’t say I was impressed. Also had out a Volvo and a Mercedes and likewise. Each to their own, hope you enjoy it.

Nice looking motor that Simon! If you want somewhere to keep it over your holiday rather than leave it all alone and unattended I'm sure I could make room on my drive I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
