HELP: Rear fog lights.

Well I’m well and truly peed off.

I’ve been driving around and found out my MOT had expired two weeks ago so booked it in for a MOT tomorrow.

Just in case I checked what I can check and Sod’s law says my both rear fog lights don’t work haaaaaaaaa.

Checked bulbs - ok.
Switch, looks ok.
Fog light shows up on dash.
Also disconnected the 13 pin connectors for my caravan power socket.

Now, reading a few searches via google and I presume the fogs don’t have any fuse but ran off FETs?

Any ideas cos it’s going to fail?

Well and truly Censored .

Is there some way the car thinks you have a trailer on and has switched the rear fogs off?

I’ve just checked the CCF file and all looks ok as far as I can see.

I did see the below though which was off but I turned it on to no restrictions.

I’ve just had exactly the same thing other than when I disconnected the trailer wiring one fog came back. I think it’s probably a wire rubbing under the rear bumper and bought a volt meter to check but won’t get chance until the weekend. If you want a spare switch to try I have one I bought off eBay to check!

Turned the below back off and the error has gone.

So it’s back as it was originally.

Well my wife took my car to the garage for its MOT after they took the booking and knew what car it was and ………..

Sorry can’t MOT that you’ll have to take it to a council place.

Wow.

So rebooked it into another garage tomorrow morning.

Sometimes it's the fact that some MOT garages have weight restrictions on their car lifts ,this has happened to me in the past.
But when you booked they should of known.
Try removing both bulbs put the car to sleep then turn on ignition wait for warnings that bulbs not working turn of ignition put the bulbs back (assuming they are not blown)turn on ignition might reset the fault.
Only trying to help If that's a dumb suggestion Embarassed

Anyone near you you can swap lights with to get through MoT?

Thanks for the suggestion but I had no errors on the dash when the bulbs was removed so didn’t work.

I don’t think it’s the lights themselves, it’s something else that’s not telling the car summit.

As above I have disconnected the tow bar electrics cos that’s the last thing I’ve done lights wise, still no fogs.

I’ve also disconnected the battery in an attempt to reset still nothing.

Owe well.

Failed it’s MOT.

Yes on the bloody rear fog lights, left car in garage to see if they can fix it.
