Non starter after handbrake module replacement |
|
Got the handbrake module replaced in my discovery 3 recently, once fitted the vehicle won't start, it is flickering the immobiliser light, an e displayed in the gear indicator (manual) and the hazard lights are flashing. The vehicle has lost communication with the ecu and handbrake module. I have tried plugging the old one back in still no joy. Any ideas???

Are the fuses OK? is the bale arm connector latched in properly? all the symptoms you describe are loss of CAN communication to and through the park brake module.

All fuses checked and are OK, would the new module cause a short circuit and blow the ecu?

I've never known it, if there was a short circuit, then a fuse would have blown, if the data lines were somehow shorted, the other connected modules would shut down and recover when the old module was reconnected - you haven't left anything unplugged around the centre console when removing and fitting the release cable have you?

Or it could be a D4 module, they operate at different CAN speeds....
The CAN identifier size is different, not the speed.

Have you tried to re-sync the ecu's the epb module is one that is checked for ID before starting.

There was no communication with either the epb module or the ecu when it's plugged in
