Discovery 4 2015 8 speed rotary gear selector
Hi, had an ongoing issue with the rotary gear selector, sticking in park and drive several times over the last few months. Now stuck in drive so cannot start car.
Have removed centre console, selector is part number EH22-7E453-AB. Is this simply a plug & play item if I replace with same model or does it require some form of programming?
Have searched the forum extensively, but cannot find a definitive answer. Car is in remote location to cannot get to a local garage (RAC tried & failed).
I use the GAP iid tool so can clear any error codes if that’s the programming issue?
Any advice gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks ronp. Had a read through that one, can’t seem to find the programming or not answer.

I replaced mine because the green light was inop. Straight swap with a later one, no programming needed. In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Thanks, stuck in drive, cannot start. I'm of the impression they are not coded to a particular vehicle, so should be plug & go. Have found a few spare ones online, so trying to make sure if I fit a replacement it should work without any additional programming....

Is swapped out as a whole unit, they should be VIN coded to your car when installed (hence needing programming) but I think they do work without.
If you don’t mind having the silver topped one from an XXV limited edition, they are significantly cheaper than the black topped selectors. Black topped ones were on back order with no estimated date when I changed mine a month or so ago

I fitted one off another car without any problems, just plug in. I have repaired the old one for emergency use, the only downside is it is possible to rotate it without stopping, you are welcome to it if it will get you out of trouble. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I Stumbled across on super cheap one on ebay back in 2019 after the LED ring stopped working. Popped it in and worked perfectly.Stu

Thanks for all the replies. All sorted EH22-7E453-AB is part number LR090489, all installed no requirement for programming. Thanks to inde Land Rover dealer Frank Wills in Ashburton for selling me his only remaining stock!

This seems to be a common issue as I had this happen on my 2015 D4, just the once but enough to be concerned as I was a long way from home. Restarted mine by turning everything off and on again but I feel this should be a TSB if it's a faulty batch...I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Get it repaired or do as I did and get it modified before it fails
