new owner
hello, new owner here, should be collecting this car later on this week.
Couple of questions if you could please.
Car sold with main dealer full service history. Is there a way for me to know the belts and oil pump have been done as they should. Guy selling the car claims the Landrover dealer do not have records gojng back that far since going "digital" Car has 140,000 miles. I know I should have asked to see the service book when I went to see it, but just took the dealers word it was as described on the advert.
Also, am old it has Xenon lights. Is there a simple way of checking (I am a long way from the vehicle so cannot pop round and look?). I have asked for him to confirm his advert that says they do? If it does not have them, is it a "biggie". We are quite rural so good headlights are important to us.
I don’t have the answers. But welcome. You have come to the right place. Enjoy the LR driving experience. This is the only car I have where after 2 years I still love it. .
Some one with knowledge will be along shortly.

hi
Xenon -
Halogen
Only sure way to know if the pump has been done is to see a receipt for it or to remove the front timing cover and check

Many thanks, that is helpful. My suspicion is it does not have Xenons from your images, but there was a lot to see when i went to view the vehicle....

Land Rover wouldnt change the oil pump as they dont admit to there being a problem, so i would assume its not been changedAndrew

As aja4x4 says… the oilpump is never changed as a recall …
As far as i think all 2.7l TDV6 engines till 2009 are suspect regarding that subject until proven otherwise..
I think you can not blame any seller if it still has the old not reinforced oilpump… unless they claim specifically that it has been upgraded but is not…
First thing i would do if bought a TDV6 new to me is check if it is upgrade and if not.. change it or let it change… same thing i always do with timing belts.. i always change them, incl. rolers, regardless of what the service book says (unless it is freshly done and i can still see that)Best regards

Really not completely sure I'm correct here, but doesn't colour-coded wheel arches = 2009MY, which should therefore = no oil pump casting issue? Don't quote me on that...

It is a November 2008 vehicle so 2009 MY as you say.... can anyone shed any or is there a chassis number "blacklist"?

2008 is year of change somewere…So you never know for sure until you checked it ( yourself)
Imagine: it breaks… and you have to tell yourself and others…” yes but on the forum they said….”
These pumps are not the best anyway, in pressure/delivery, upgraded or not… i did come to the conclusion that it is a good idea to change it every 100K anyway..Best regards
