Timken wheel bearing.

Hi folks, hope you’ve had a good Christmas.
I fitted a new Timken wheel bearing today, to silence the rumbling noise that we have had for a while.
The old one came out very easily, the driveshaft pushed through without any effort but on refitting the new one the driveshaft didn’t want to go all the way through the hub. I cleaned it all up and looked for a reason for this but couldn’t see anything obvious, so I’ve had to pretty much pull it through with hub nut the rest of the way, which will probably make it quite difficult to get back off should it need to.
Anybody else had this?

Yep, it's not uncommon. It can be made to move should you need it to.

Sometimes the noise is due to wear in the splined parts, if it was really easy to remove, chances are that's where most of the noise was from, especially if it was ticking on forward / reverse direction changes.

Give it a couple of days & re-torque the driveshaft nut - as in slacken it off then torque it up again, not just make sure it goes 'click' with the torque wrench on it.

I will check it again to be sure, the old one sounded like it was full of gravel when I turned it by hand after removal. Thanks again
