Will have a mooch at that.
Talking about mooches, one around Sydney after a bit of shopping for stuff we couldn’t bring via carry-on bags. And it looks like we’ve brought the Hawaiian rain, but it held off and the sun did come out. Bit of Aussie Navy stuff. There’s a navy base just down the road and it has a fair mix of stuff in there.

And from cliffs at Watsons Bay.

And down in Bondi, great old Landie.

And this will make a seriously good desert strength G&T.

And a pano of Bondi Beach. Not sure lady in pic was that impressed with me taking said pano but I was getting bored waiting on her completing the long march up the beach.

And we’re picking up a hire car in a week or so, got some serious studying to do on parking regs!!

Morning Del. Looks amazing. Late summer there? I'm just out to check the skies for the northern lights. Amazing show last night.

Saw that the NLs were out and would be visible down to Cornwall. Unfortunately we’re too far north for the SLs, we’re at about the same latitude as Rabat, Morocco.
Re season, getting to late summer which is just nice. It was getting nice and warm yesterday afternoon when we were at Bondi, and we knew it was getting into sunburn territory. Unfortunately I’d forgotten the sun screen, luckily a chemist was there and got some slap-on. We know here you can get fried even if it’s cloudy.
Off walking across Syd Harb Bridge now and local stuff. Not doing the roped on walk, way too much like high.

And an apologies to the good peeps of Manly, I keep entering it as “Manky” into Google Maps (k key nearer for finger than L key), to the degree that GoogMaps knows what I’m talking about!

Gooooooood Morning Blighty, and elsewhere. Another bootiful day in paradise, apart from its piddling down. Hey ho, will just have a longer breakie, resisting the pastries on the buffet counter.

Yesterday was a day trip out of Sydney to the Hawkesbury Station and a trip round the islands on the mail boat.

And a lovely dog that greets every mail boat, you can see that it’s really the highlight of his day and loving the attention. And the beef & ham slices that come his way!

And this morning’s entertainment when partaking of breakie, another cruise ship squeezing under the bridge.

And then the heavens opened up, hopefully won’t be here for long as we’re off to the zoo today. Not complaining too much re the weather as not too many days ago it was over 40c!!

Good morning folks! Not a lot been happening, few days at the NSW coast in Kiama, S of Sydney, now in Canberra until Monday. Bit nippy here, +7c, so back in jeans and fleeces. Lots of walking planned as it’s all reasonably compact.
View from Mt Ainslie (nothing to do with Ainslie Harriett), we drove up it before parking up the car, now don’t have to walk up. Phewwwwww!

A few more pics from Aus. Couple of days doing some rain forest and coastal trails south of Sydney. Kiama was a really nice place to stay.

And a bit of a drive to Canberra. Quite like Canberra, it’s a bit like Ottawa but a lot warmer and no signs in French. Today was a bit of walking to the Nat Gallery and parliament.

It was amazing just being able to wander around without anyone shouting at us or pointing a gun at us. More than once we looked at each other and asked are we allowed here!! And re “a bit” of walking, my watch shows 15km!! We normally use buses but the Canberra buses are a complete PITA re paying for them, we decided we’ll just walk. They could learn a thing or three thousand from NSW Transport!
PS and we sampled our first pie of trip yesterday. Can’t visit Aus without hitting a pie shop. Beef and pepper for me. Yum!

Was getting a little worried about you Del - not seen any food pics for awhile - thought you might be wasting away Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Mock-up NH90's are just as efficient as the proper ones

I had heard they are getting rid of them early as they are not up to scratch, though did see one in the air over Sydney so they managed to get one in the air.
Re food, somehow managed not to put any weight on after 2 months of travelling, that’s a result for me!

Morning folks, hope you’re not still up shovelling snow and stealing liberating my firewood!
Yesterday was a lovely day and a walk up to the Australian War Memorial. Think Cenotaph, Massive “names” memorial like Thiepval and the IWM all rolled into one.
View down the ANZAC Parade (or as we call it The Runway) towards Parliament. Note Love Bug/Peace VW Bus passing by.

And this would look good cruising the mean streets of London.
Bit of a stop at the cafe as we were in there a good couple of hours. And yes, they did pies!!
And then down The Runway having a looks at a few of the memorials there. Couldn’t stop at them all as it was getting a bit hot and that big ball of fusion called the sun (remember that?) had well and truly put his hat on and they were both sides of the parade.
Vietnam Memorial, second pic with words from the Redgum track “I was only 19”.

And prob the most dramatic memorial, the one commemorating the Boer War. Looked even more impressive from down the hill a little bit as you just saw the top half of the horses and upwards.
And finally, for our Kiki friends, the NZ memorial. No missing that one as it had pride of place on both sides of the parade.

Another day of wandering around, our last one in Canberra before heading back to the coast.
