I find a Wise card really useful to save on foreign transactions, I have 2 one for work and one for personal transactions. Works with Apple Pay on the phone as well so you save on all card and contactless payments compared to the bank rates for non sterling transactions.
If you havent got an account with them you can use this link and get a free intro offer - https://wise.com/invite/u/darrind10 Must stop buying shiny toys....

Iceland, like the rest of the Nordic countries is very card based. hardly ever use cash now.
Use CC, DC, or if you really feel like take some cash out when you get there. I was there early 2000
and mostly just used card then. Even in the middle of no where campsites.

Are you taking the ferry from Denmark via the Faroes?

I've been contemplating a trip but SWMBO is wary (and does not have sea legs..).
TripAdvisor makes for some pretty hair raising reading on the journey but I think I may JFDI... Jim

My mate is doing this in August. He's taking an Electric campervan and touring Iceland for nearly 3 weeks. Should be a great trip. Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Really enjoyed our trip to Iceland, went with friends that we normally go on caravan holidays in the UK with, they have been trying to get us to go on holiday with them "to the sun" for a few years but I'm afraid it didn't appeal to me, sitting on a beach isn't my idea of fun., so as a joke they suggested Iceland...........they organised it all no package own accommodation booked(right in the middle of reykjavik) minibus did our own thing absolutely great holiday.

He produces them. He's taking from his workshop in Essex driving up to Denmark to the Ferry. Faroe on the way up then Iceland and then the reverse. He's a massive advocate of Electric vehicles and will be taking lots of Data along the trip. The whole camper is Electric - cooking etc. Large lithium batteries and large solar panels. Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Wow!, that will be a great trip.
Surprised how many camp/caravan sites in Iceland.
Even caravan dealers with accessory shops, caravans by swift and Adria.
The caravans were at least twice as expensive than in the UK.
