Boot Lid Lights

Hi all

My boot lid lights (the two 501 LED bulbs next to the top boot lid handle)

They both don’t work - I started with new bulbs (tried both ways round for polarity) but that didn’t work. The sockets did look burned or melted when inspected

I’ve looked on here for similar threads but nothing I can see

Does anyone know should I next be best to replace the housing plug socket bit? Or are they known to melt and be a fault? Or maybe a common wiring issue?

I’d like to have them if possible. Also trying to get rid of all these codes and keep things sweet

Thanks I’m advance

Are you talking about the rear numberplate lights?

On a D3 there are no LED bulps from factory, so they are definitely aftermarket…
But a simple measuring for 12v will do i presume, if 12v is present, simply change the burnt/melted armatures, i had never issues with them regarding cable breakage or melting

You can buy them complete in LED versions on amazon or likewise..
even with rearview camera mounted inside…. As i have for a few years now

Since the LED versions have a different light color than the original lights i just changed the “other one” a few months ago, i was driving around with 2 different lights annoying everyone behind me ( Question ) because i got tired about talking about a different light color Twisted Evil
