Gearbox Fault - Restricted Performance (New to Landrovers) |
|
Evening all.
We've had our MY59 D4 for a week now and have had 'Restrive Performance" errors with yellow triangle coe up several times. I have tried attaching my OBD to check for codes but none have been cached. Anyway, after restarting the car it clears itself and all is good. And to be fair, the performance was never particularly restrictive.
Anyway, this evening I was driving and I got a yellow triangle and a "Gearbox Fault - Restrictive Performance', once again, performance seemed fine, with no jolts or noises coming from the transmission, but it won't clear after restarting, and once again, no errors in the OBD.
Now, as a hobbyist Alfa restorer, I know not to have kittens at every message that comes up on the dash. So thought I would put this out to you guys as you will know more than me.
Any ideas anyone?

You'll need the codes read, they are complex beasts and without a code you'll be throwing money at guesses. I bought a GAPIID tool before collecting the car, I've played the LR game before

Make sure your battery is fully charged, in good condition and holding the correct voltage.. if not it will throw up all sorts of error codes! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks guys. I will check battery this weekend.
With the IID Tool are you paying for the hardware or a user license? If its just hardware do they ever come up 2nd hand?

they come up for sale on here periodically, usually around the £300 mark for a GAP IID bluetooth, then you pay IIRC £25 to GAP for them to register VIN against it. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

They dont seem to go for much less second hand than new or at least didn't when I was looking for one. There was a mention of another cheaper one on here somewhere which might be worth a look.
