Split RH manifold - next steps?

Our 2013, 107k D4 has blessed us with its first ever serious fault.
Restricted performance at the start of a 1100 mile trip to the Alpes and back. Evidence of oil/soot over the top of the RH Inlet manifold and underside of the top cover. Very similar to so many other photos on here!
Thanks to all those on this forum for the posts and advice. It gave us confidence to drive the 550 miles there and I think we're ready for the journey back.
The oil leak is slight, so the split can't be too bad so far. We can drive carefully up to about 70mph and when it goes into restricted performance, pull over at the next services wait a few minutes, restart and carry on til it happens again. We've been having fun learning to drive carefully and play with sport mode and paddles to see if we can delay the boost coming on and the system tripping.. Photo enc..
So now we're planning repairs on our return. The car is a keeper, so while we're not looking forward to the bill, we want the job done properly.
What do you think. Main dealer or specialist? Latest updated genuine parts, after market plastic or alu? One side or both? And while it's in pieces, for a 107k car, what else should we replace? (Car has been regularly serviced every year on the dot and every 10k. Also any recommendations or experience with repairs or repairers in Hampshire?
Additionally, given there is a service bulletin on the covers (anyone know the ref number?) has anyone successfully managed to get a contribution from LR for the repair? (I think I know the answer to this already but if you don't ask!!....)

Fyi, our Disco made it 1000 miles there and back. We simply took longer and drove slower to avoid triggering restricted performance. The big uphills were nerve wracking as on some we could only manage 35mph. Thank goodness for French crawler lanes on the Auto routes!!
The team at S and C Motors in Waterlooville identified it was a split manifold cover, swapped it out with LR parts in less than a day. The split was only a couple of centimeters across and definitely not as bad as others they've seen. No further damage caused.

When my first one went there were none available through JLR so ordered a Non genuine one that was rubbish- took it back for a refund and I dropped lucky that the place had a genuine one for a customer who cancelled that day- a few months later the other side went and again I got genuine.
Having seen the Ally ones I’d be tempted to get them if I ever needed moreMust stop buying shiny toys....

Just replaced one side. I was advised there wasn't much of a saving in labour to do both and that the other side could go the following week or in 100,000 miles. So deal with it if/when it goes again.
This fix prompted the discussion of should we change it, but despite potential faults and repairs, the cost of change to something newer is far greater than annual repair bills. Despite the fact I'd normally change cars more often and who doesn't like something new and shiny. But on balance, a car we've had from new, that's been well looked after and still looks and drives like new is worth keeping and looking after. Also just replaced one side when mine went. Bill was £780.
It was quite easy (but boring) to drive gently to avoid the restricted performance thing.D1 300Tdi - gone

My question as bye stander is what causes them to split?- can a certain style of driving cause it or help to eliminate them cracking?
Are they a simple manifold or are they like some Mercedes and have valves in them?It can when others can't,

I had the same question. My left/nearside manifold went on Wednesday and on inspection by the indie who's repairing it it seems that the throttle body butterfly valve was jammed closed too.

The split is in the top corner and is pretty big. Both manifolds were replaced in 2021 so I wasn't expecting this again so soon, and I checked for codes recently and there was nothing showing relating to this or the engine in general.2013 Orkney Grey D4 SDV6 HSE

I did the same, gentle with the throttle & no towing for a couple of weeks while waiting for parts, and only did the left side as my Indy also said no real savings to do both together.

I did the same, I drove to disneyland Paris, droved a few miles to the shopping centres etc with no issues..
Then, as we left to come home the first time the turbo boosted the light came on.. I checked with the iid then popped the bonnet and found the LH manifold split around the top of the bolt hole..
I took the option to try and drive back, so took it steady, the issue was, by the time i got to the chunnel the red DPF warning light came on..
Obviously I couldn't get the the engine to a state to do a dynamic regen, and feathering the throttle obviously made it worse.
By the time I got to Northampton I had severely restricted power, I guess due to the back pressure caused by the DPF, I still decided to carry on, as I could get it up to ~60-mph on the M1.
As I got almost home (Ashbourne, Derbyshire) I had almost no power whatsoever and barely made it home as the hills gave me a real issue.
Bought a LH manifold.. As I stripped it down I figured that I didn't want to do it again soon, so went and collected a RH manifold too..
I fitted the manifolds ok and got it all back together, When i started it, it still sounded awful.. I opened the oil filler and looked inside.. I saw the Camshaft not spinning
My theory was that maybe the back pressure from the exhaust somehow caused the cam chain to snap.. but also it's possible that I caught it on the way in with he RH manifold.
I spoke to Oval Autos and got it in there to replace and retrieve the chain..
Joe at Oval seems to think I was just unlucky but I guess we'll never know..
When I got it back from Joe, all was good, apart from a coolant leak from the coolant intake manifold, I asked Oval to help with this but got no reply.. The part was luckily only £25 so I replaced myself instead of chasing Oval..
I guess the moral of my story is you can only go so far by feathering the throttle when you have a DPF..
It may also be worth noting that I did stop at Halfords in Folkstone and bought some 2 part epoxy to see if I could do a temp repair, I think that would have worked, but was too keen to get going and didn't leave it to cure long enough.. so it blew through.. If I had done it the night before and let it cure over night, I think it woould have worked due to the location and accessibility.Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

It sounds like your Indy spun you a line, there certainly should/ would be a saving in doing both sides, you basically have to strip as if you're doing a cam belt for doing either side, so this would be some time saved if doing both side together, It's not a massive job, but I would guess it would save at least an hour of labour (I'm sure that's what they would charge to get to that point).
Maybe give them a call anonymously and ask how much if would be to replace both, if its less than £1560 then you would have had a saving.. I suspect it would be less to replace both..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black
