Engine/Gearbox Fault - Disappears on re-start

Here's a new one (to me anyway). Twice last week, when starting to drive home from work in the cold, I got a combined engine and gearbox fault that resulted in a temporary loss of gearchanging. It seemed to be stuck in second or third (auto box) and sent me lots of error messages.
I stopped. Turned it all off and restarted. The problem went away both times. It was cold (-1) both times.
Anyone elese had this?

Re: Engine/Gearbox Fault - Disappears on re-start

I have had exactly the same. Do I understand that this is solved
with a software update ?
My car was produced 2nd week of February, does it need an update
now already ?

I think this is the same fault that I have experienced with my TDv6 S Auto (see Start up Problems posted in early January). It has now happened about half a dozen times, always immediately after starting up first thing in the morning on a cold day. I visited my Land Rover dealer a couple of weeks ago and they checked her over. I was told that the computer had recorded a lot of faults and these all appeared to be related to low voltage. Apparently the electrics on the Disco 3 are very very voltage sensitive, and any drop will cause problems. I guess on a cold day with lots of accessories on from the start (including heated front & rear screens and seats) the battery may well be struggling to cope and a low voltage output can occur. It is a bit worrying though that this should happen in a relatively mild UK climate. What do the Canadian and Northern European markets make of a vehicle that "falls over itself" (at least electronically) on a "cold" day.....?

Thats makes a lot of sense. The day it happened to me was the morning after the software upgrade so that doesn't fix it, but I remember it was below zero and I'd put on both front heated seats (level 2) and the radio. The fault accured after 50 yards or so but reset fine after a key out restart...not occured since.
