Manual Gearbox E fault after clutch change

Hi All,
I've just brought a Disco 3 2005 plate with high miles as a challenge to my sanity.
I'm not new to land rovers just had a break and driving a VW Tiguan.
Ok i was told by the previous owner that the car needed a new clutch which he replaced. after replacing the clutch, the indicator on the dash states the letter E. also no low range gears.
so next week i'm going to have a look and see what i can do?
has anybody had this fault? what did you do to resolve? what fault codes did you have? anybody got the fault code list for the manual gearbox? all help will be thank full.

There is a calibration of the XY sensor you can do. Have a search. Thumbs Up

Also, put up a pic. I had a 2005 S manual that I did 231,000 miles in. Best car ever. Very Happy

Hi Moo, that's what i've been told. I'm picking the car up tomorrow (Ebay purchase) quote from add (Engine & gearbox good despite 250000miles on clock
New clutch fitted recently but now have ‘E’ on dashboard)
After speaking to the seller he stated that he had no Low range as well?
I would normally have not brought this but it's clean and good leather interior.
Also for £1300 it's worth a gamble Shocked

I imagine either the XY sensor hasn’t been plugged in at all/properly or the wiring has become damaged during the clutch change, and it won’t shift into low range because it has no idea if it’s in neutral or not as it cannot see the XY sensor at all instead of having just lost calibration. Maybe the wiring to the range change motor has been damaged also hence the no low range.

Got a 2005 S manual myself here on 254k, absolutely great vehicle love it to bits Thumbs Up

Curious. It will have low range as standard.

Put a pic up in case anyone knows the car.

Update

Hi Moo, Update.
I've driven the day and it drives ok. however on starting up you get
1 hdc fault system not available
2 transmission range change not available
3 The Amber brake light is on
4 Gear indication shows E only

I think it may be the XY sensor not working or connected correctly?

Open to suggestions?

Update Fixed XY Issue

Hi All,
I've had time to look at this sensor and do a little trouble shooting, What I've found 5vdc going to sensor all good, plug doesn't feel good on the XY sensor. cleaned and also got my borescope on the sensor.
Found pin slightly bent, straightened pins and checked again still not happy. I brought a gearbox wiring loom and waited a few days. so today i used the new wiring loom to check the plug to sensor and it fitted like a glove. so i double checked the original plug again and found some tape in the plug housing as photo.
once removed and connected back to the sensor and wow I've got gearbox gear indicator back. Bow down

Note to all make sure you keep your working area clean so no tape get's in the plug..
