ULEZ compliance on EU5 engine

I've seen a couple of adverts claiming ULEZ compliance for 2014 EU4 models

Reg number on the checker shows compliance

Another ad says "ULEZ copliance +£1,000)

What's all that about?

My understanding is:-

ULEZ-compliant petrol cars:

· Must meet Euro 4, Euro 5 or Euro 6 emissions standards

· Were generally registered after January 2006.

ULEZ-compliant diesel cars:

· Must be Euro 6 compliant

· Were generally registered after September 2015

put your Reg in on the ULEZ checker.

Some 2013/14 vehicles which are non adblue, are wrongly categorised and show as compliant.

It's pure luck. Mine (14 plate facelift non adblue) is non compliant for London so I have to pay £12.50, but exempt for all the other clean air zones (Brum/Bristol etc).

Pity as the one place I do need to use it occasionally is inside the M25.

Check both, 2 different websites. You might be surprised - I was.

Some 2013 and 2014 vehicles are exempt (they should not be but they are) due to the inept civil service department which is running the schemes.

They might realise one day and correct this, but knowing how govt depts work - probably not.

The London ULEZ has a different site, so run your vehicle reg through on both.

London : https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/

All the rest : https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones

SWMBO's Mercedes B class, 63 plate diesel, is exempt in half of the cities (should not be, as its EU5) but not the others, its very random.

I have read before that some 12 and 13 year vehicles were compliant, especially BMW and Mercedes as they started the ball rolling early foe EU6 compliance.

I didn't realise until I just checked the website, but you are not allowed to drive into LEZ in Scotland with a non compliant vehicle. There is no LEZ charge to be able to drive into the city, you just receive a fine and it increases each time you drive in.
Wow, the SNP really are looking after their constituents who can't readily afford a newer vehicle.

My 3.0l 2016 D4 commercial isn't compliant but my 2012 SLK55 AMG (5.5l V8) is Laughing

Crazy ! Not that I'd want to drive in that area of Glasgow anyway and at least I can drive past on the M8 or M74 in either car without the emissions having any effect (have they not heard of wind?)...
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Not just increases, it doubles each time. There is no way of paying to go in……….
