I have written before about my engine drinking oil and collecting it in the intercooler tube.
Could be a too high pressure in the crankcase ventilation?
There is a crankcase ventilation tube in the sump. LR013608. Can this have something too do wirh my oil problem.

Hi,
I just saw your post (also in the other forum).
My guess:
- If the engine was rebuilt the guys should have done a measurement of the piston rings. If they are too tight or too wide, there may be problems. You can check that pretty easily. Start the engine and warm it up. Then the oil cap and check how much it blows out there. Some air draft is normal. If it blows like a hair dryer then you have found your problem.
- Turbo: on the left side you can pull off the hose into the intercooler. If it is extremely oily 10 cm in the direction of the turbo, it is either coming from the turbo or the crank case breather.
- It can collect some oil in the intercooler. Remove it and clean it properly. Then test drive it and see how it is (if not already done).
- 1l on 3500 km is already quite high... possibly are on the valve shaft seals flat.
