EPB jammed after 9 months
Hi all
I had my local indie fit a new module 9 months ago along with new parking brake shoes etc. it’s now jammed on - what has probably caused a failure so quickly?

Did you get any warning codes in days/weeks leading up to the failure ?
I've just had to write-off an EPB on a low-mileage non-rusty D4, prior to that I'd seen codes and "service due" messages. Opinion I'm getting from Disco-wise guys is if you don't adjust for EPB brake-shoe wear over time then the electric winch starts winding close to the end of its permitted travel.
If the winch reaches the END of its designed travel then it can lock-up - and in my case even the manual release cable was unable to release the lockup (the crimp on the pull-loop broke under huge tension).
Has made my eyes water ......

Thanks for the swift reply. I had no warnings at all, it just screamed and jammed. I did manage to release it by pulling the cable thank goodness.
It’s such a pain in the ass. I purposefully maintain the big problem areas and to have a failure after such a short time is maddening.
Is there a mileage interval I should have the rear brakes apart to adjust them??

The question has to be asked if the shoes were adjusted properly. Is it a garage tht knows what they're doing?
Things do go wrong, but the rear shoes have a regime that needs to be followed. Did a proper mechanic do the job?2011 MY D4 HSE

Bet he didn't follow Bodsey's bible, particularly the running-in proceedings, if that isn't done a lot of adjustment can be lost in the first few miles depending on how the brake is used.It can when others can't,

Yes, it was a company based up here in the north highlands (we don’t have a lot of choice). They freed the system up yesterday and said the fault was due to binding brake shoes and as they had fitted those 12 months ago the whole repair was done FOC. I think I’ll get Disco Mike to take a look when he has the car for its annual hurrah in Dundee!
