If it's magnetic it might suggest it's part of the block casting, possibly right where an oil gallery is present which would account for the pressure loss.
In any case, bearings or not it sounds like a rebuild now, but if that's a "chip off the old block" (sorry ) it's hardly worth the trouble.

I’ve just watched a short video on YouTube with a guy who did this, it looks nuts but there’s a small part of me that fancies having a go!!🤣
