Ignition

Hi all, I have an issue where my keys do not work in the ignition. They unlock the car as normal, but they won't turn in the ignition. I have looked at the ignition and can't see any issues. The .ain question is how do you take the ignition off the car? It looks to me that you have to drill out the bolt? 2006 SE

have you tried giggling the steering wheel while trying to turn it?

On other cars, you turn the key to I and then put a rod into a hole in the side, to release the lock barallel

Yes, the whole things is held on by tamper proof bolts

Just a thought does the automatic transmission need to be in Park (or think it is in Park) to start the engine?
If so is the problem of the vehicle not starting due to the automatic transmission/gearbox linkage becoming stiff and although the lever is forward, it is not forward enough and as a result it does not think it is in Park.
So it might be worth pushing it forward while trying to start the vehicle to see if that makes a difference.
