What is this cable for?


Today I changed the battery on my Disco 4.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Except there was a cable was tucked down the side of the battery and fuse box. Must have been like this since I bought the car from the dealer?
So now I am wondering what it is, and should it be attached to something?

See images.

It's strapped alongside the positive cable and battery vent.
