4.4 TDV8 - 8 Speed - Discovery 4 fitter in Russia.

Doing a deep dive on the web, stumbled across RR-Master (https://rr-master.ru/).

Offering v8 retrofits, mainly the 3.6 TDV8 to 6 speed boxes, however they have done what was thought to be impossible and fit the 4.4 in to MY14+ Disco 4.

This has sparked my interest because my 2014 disco 4 (47k miles) is on its second engine (2018 crank) and has been rebuilt again in 2023 due to metal filings in the oil filter (bearing failure).

In comparison the 4.4 TDV8 seems to be much more reliable (maybe turbo issues on higher mileage), similar fuel economy, a bit more powerful and obviously the v8 grumble.

Seeming that it is possible, can anyone shed any light electronics wise, would it require a new ECU? Obviously new/modified engine harness. Fuel pipes etc.
Does the BCM need to be changed too? Would I lose rear climate control as I don't believe that was a feature on any vehcile the 4.4 was offered on?

Any thoughts appreciated.

As far as I understand, Disco_Mikey only did the 3.6 to a 6 speed box which is not compatible with the 8 speed box

The 3.6 TDV8 can work with an 8-speed.
Instead of Russians, get in touch with the younger brothers:

They've done it quite a lot of times already.

8 speed box can be utilised with a CAN converter

Not a cheap swap though

Thanks Both, Will get a quote from oldjaguar.com

Disco_Mikey when you did your conversion do you have to swap out the BCM for a RR one?
