[Wanted] Importing a D4 from the UK to Ireland |
|
Hi folks,
I am on the hunt for a 2014-2016 D4 HSE SDV6 3.0L.
There is nothing here in Ireland that I can see with HSE spec. Looking to the UK, I have found a few on AutoTrader, but now am faced with the punitive VRT, NOx, VAT and Customs charges imposed by the Irish government when importing such a car.
Has anyone here gone through the process, and if so can you shed some light on your experience? Some of the calculations are very unclear on Irish Revenue's website.
At the moment it looks prohibitively expensive. Such a shame.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome
Cost of vehicle in Euro
+ 10% duty - UK Origin most likely but lots of forms & declarations to obtain before avoiding this being imposed
+ 23% VAT on top of the that
Customs paperwork approx €100
Ferry 3/400€?
Then when you go and register it for road tax, you're looking at more that likely highest VRT rate based on C02 emissions of a thirsty D4 - have a look at this link and then go lie down for a while

I asked a few agents here who source cars in the UK for customers to look at finding and importing a D4 with good spec for me, to be honest they all laughed. Minimum would be €50k + but with majority of it up front.
It is a real pity as there are so few decent ones here. Am lucky enough to have a MY14D4HSE for the last 3.5 years, but wanted a MY16 to see me through another few years
