Does the D4 Auto Gearbox work in the RR Sport

Good evening peeps!

I’m in the process of swapping the 3.0 Engine on my RR Sport….I have another Engine and Box to go in from a D4….question is…can i also use the D4 Box….so basically swap the Box as well as the Engine as opposed to splitting them?

See attached pics of info from the two Gearboxes. Numbers look much the same yeah….

Thanks.

Yes, the engines and boxes are the same, as long as it's a 6 speed for a 6 speed, or 8 for an 8.

You will need to program the vin number into the gearbox using a gap iid and help of the support team. Otherwise it will be stuck in 3rd gear

Oh....Sounds promising....kinda... Smile

Can you tell from the numbers on the box if it's 6 or 8 speed?

Also...does it need to be the Genuine LR Tool or can any Code Reader Type tool do it.... my mate runs a local Garage and he's been able to do Steering Cal, etc in the past....

Thanks guys Thumbs Up

6 speed has a gear lever, 8 speed a rotary selecter.

Similar years will tend to be like for like.

The AH22-7000-CG (or -CH) are Land Rover engineering part identifiers (not sure what else to call them in English). First letter means model year that the part was introduced, A means 2010, B means 2011, etc. works also with D3s, 5H22 would be, well, 2005. No idea what the Hxx signifies, best guess is it is some kind of category.. 7000 is the callout number you see on drawings. Like, if you happen to go to https://new.lrcat.com/#!/12128/41216/44190/3453/44209 you might notice that its callout is 7000… The last two letters indicate some kind of variant. I’m reasonably sure these can be found in JLR’s EPC system but unfortunately I do not have access to it.

The 1068 401 377 is the part number ZF (the manufacturer) assigned. From ZF perspective they’re the same part. The first four digits signifies the main part list. It’s ZF’s way of saying “it belongs to this family”.. so I guess it means that all 6HP26 (at least) parts start 1068. I think the number you see is the clump of aluminum, not the whole “system”. Line underneath identifies the type of metal (alloy), in this case AlSi9Cu3(Fe).

Perhaps someone else has the rest of the secret decoder ring Mr. Green

The 6spd with have 6HPxx cast into the metal chassis somewhere

To program vin u need £500 gap tool. Or get a dealer to do it.

If you know the existing gearbox is good, can’t you just use it?
