Naviplus carplay and IOS 17?? |
|
Hello all,
Had the Naviplus carplay adapter fitted since December 2019 and love it.
Yesterday I upgraded my Iphone 12 pro max to IOS 17 and now Carplay will not start!!
Bluetooth connects, Carplay unit sees the phone and starts the "connecting" spinning logo and stays there indefinitely!!
Tried with a cable connection and the same thing.
Anyone else having issues?

Remove phone from recognized devices in Naviplus, remove (forget device) Naviplus from phone, once both know nothing of each other pair again. Should do the trick. Wojtek

Will keep the thread updated.
Have updated to the hurried patch 17.1 that came out yesterday but still have the same issue.
Tried deleting the phone from the Nav unit.
Tried deleting the nav unit from the phone.
Tried the reset a few times.
Googled for solutions and tried those.
Nav unit sees the phone and connects to the bluetooth.
Screen show the spinning connecting to carplay icon for as long as you let it run!!
Will get in touch with Naviplus in the morning as I am not working until later in the day.

Have been in touch with Apple and Naviplus but sadly the problem persists.
Apple started the chat with "no problem we can sort this for you" and ended by escalating to a phone call on Friday!
Naviplus have advised me to use a wired connection for the moment. I have tried with the usb cable with no success. I have asked them to let me know where the option to connect by cable only is as I canrt seem to find it but they have said if this does not cure it I may need a new system!!! Not at their prices I'm afraid if it only lasts 4 years.
We wait and see.
I may be looking for a replacement carplay system for my Discovery MY12 with oem funcionality.

Come on, this can not be that bad. A software update from their side perhaps?
Also, did they test iOS17? Wojtek

That's longer than Apple expect you to keep a phone, isn't it ? .

Fair point although after four years I would expect my iPhone to still work and have some resale value.
I have never owned the latest version of an iPhone nor paid the full price.
I guess to me it's not worth paying the premium price of the naviplus system if it will become obsolete within a few years when there are cheaper, just as capable systems available.
I would rather purchase a cheap Chinese version and replace that every few years at a much lower price.
Others may feel differently.

No matter if cheap Chinese or Naviplus, this is always an Android-based box that runs a specialized app providing Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability. Which means it is resettable or upgradeable. Naviplus should get their sht together and test various phones with various iOS revisions for compatibility and update their kit with software that allows running the latest iOS as they state on their webpage. It may be down to a single type of phone combined with the specific version of iOS.
No change after updating to 17.0.1? Wojtek

Can't be sure if this is an apple or Naviplus issue at the moment so reserving judgement!
I agree you'd think it would be simple but life eh?
Sadly no luck with 17.0.1!
Going to try a friends phone with my car tomorrow and my phone with his car, (a ford) to see if we can isolate the issue a little.

Good thinking, try it both ways and get to the bottom of this. Wojtek

Thanks thisandy!!
Naviplus have suggested this and I am waiting to hear back as to how to do it.
Couldn't find the setting option when I had a look.
Will go have a quick look now and if not wait to hear from them again.

So had some more info from Naviplus who guided me through selecting wired only as a connection.
CarPlay now working!
The setting was in settings, factory mode, factory settings, iPhone link type.
Hope this helps somebody.
Fingers crossed they find a fix for wireless but until then I still have CarPlay.
