Restricted Performance- no faults on IID
Mornings
Whilst on a 350 mile drive the dreaded Restricted Performance warning came up after 300 miles.
Managed to drive the remaining 50 miles.
When I got to my destination I plugged in the IID tool - no warning messages.
0n return trip the warning message came back on 50 miles into my journey. I stopped checked the warnings and nothing. ManAged to drive the 100 miles with restricted Performance.
Got to Cirensestor checked faults - none. The warning went off.
Was able to drive back to Northumberland with no issues. I did however keep to 70 mph in cruise.
The warning came back on 10 miles from home.
Checked under the engine cover this morning to find some oil on the left top of the engine. I take it that this would be the inlet manifold?.
I will add a picture shortly.
Is this a costly repair

Sounds exactly like what happened when my manifold split. No fault codes and if I switched it off and then restarted it restricted performance went off enabling me to drive with a very light throttle.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Thanks for the heads up Moo. Here’s hoping the warranty will cover it.

When I got restricted performance I couldn't find any codes, I'm a member of the gap iid page on Facebook, I think I was told to look in advanced or something

Take a look at pending faults - unless it is really badly split it will show as pendingMust stop buying shiny toys....

Happened to me too. No faults (pending or otherwise) and restricted performance went away if I switched off and on again. Seems to be happy as long as you don't go above 2000rpm. The patch of oil on the engine cover foam was diagnostic in this case. Can also feel a puff of gas if you hold your hand above the manifold (careful...!) while someone else revs the engine to ~3000rpm.
Had my inlet manifold fixed by a good local indie for £783.D1 300Tdi - gone
