D4 - FBH intake

Morning all. Is the FBH air intake the same on the D4 as the D3, i.e. a bendy silver pipe to a black barrel (filter presumably?) zip tied to the side of the bracket?

Thanks

Chris

Yes AFAIK, the exhaust silencer from a D3 will also fit on a D4 FBH.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Small detail: it is NOT a filter, but a intake silencer

So running without one, has only a tiny effect on the noise the FBH produces, no further protective function..

That will be what I fitted to my D4 about 3 years ago, pinched it off the D3 before I waved good-bye Thumbs Up

I'm still a bit confused about the difference between the inlet on the D3 and D4.

On this image, it shows the typical D3 inlet, i.e. the silver flexi pipe going to the little black filter thingy attached to the side of the FBH frame.

But on this image it's going to the left towards the header tank (as it does on my D4), but on mine it's not terminated with anything, it's just kind of hanging there. Obviously it must have changed. Where should the inlet pipe go on a D4 and should it have anything on the end?

Thanks

Chris

I know I am a bit late to the party but just to answer this in case someone stumbles upon this in the future (as I did):

(1) The black cylinder on the D3's FBH is indeed the intake silencer. It tends to come off at some point and when it does, it touches the (hot) exhaust and melts. I have transferred mine a little higher on the FBH's bracket.

(2) As far as my research goes, the D4 seems to come without any intake silencer without much increase in noise. The intake flexi pipe is routed a little different as shown in the post above.
