Help deciding which Sat Nav screen upgrade to go for |
|
I am sure this has been covered before, so apologies if I have missed the post.
I would like to upgrade my 2008 HSE sat nav screen to have Wireless Apple Carplay, DAB radio, retain hands free calls and a reversing camera if possible.
My current car has the factory fitted TV tuner and the 4x4 screen, which I like but will live without if necessary.
From what I can find out the options I have are:
1 Tesla style screen and dash, this looks great but sounds glitchy and I am not sure if I will need a new amplifier.
2 New double din unit, this retains the old screen, but I am not sure if the 4x4 display and TV would still work and I would need a new amplifier
3 Flush mounted screen that replaces the old sat nav screen with a small bit of dash cutting. This sounds like the least work as it uses the AUX input, but I suppose I would still need a new microphone and DAB antenna, the screen is small though.
4 Larger screen mounted in front of the old sat nav screen. This looks ok and a bigger screen, but possibly not as neat as the flush one.
I think I am leaning towards the flush screen, but please let me know what option you would go for/have or if there are others I have missed and can anyone recommend a supplier/installer close to London?
Many thanks

Thanks Andy, I will message him, but if anyone else has any suggestions, do let me know. I am keen to have the new system installed as soon as I can.

The tesla screen looks cheap and nasty, stick to a double din or a unit that fits in place of the nav screen and connects to the factory head unit.

Thanks both for your replies. I will stay away fro the Tesla screen and the mounted screen in front of the existing screen and go for the flush replacement or double din, I just need to find an installer now and hopefully CDS will give me some advice.

Does anyone have a fitter they can recommend around London?
I think I will go for the screen replacement of my original sat nav and use the AUX on my OEM radio plus have a reversing camera fitted.
