Android Auto - within 30 miles of Petersfield |
|
I would like to try Android Auto and wonder if anyone within c. 30 miles miles would let me have a play please?
Nice if it was on a D4 but not essential - but not a very recent EV etc..

Hi
Somebody at work was talking about this recently and was certain my D4 would be compatible so we could try it for research purposes at work.
But we discovered it only appears to be LRs post 2019 that are compatible. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Not within 30 miles of Petersfield, sorry. But I have just fitted the ID Core wireless CarPlay / Android Auto unit to my D4. It's not cheap (£500) but it's an easy enough install (took about an hour, maybe hour and a half). Works fine. You lose the built in Nav but that's the point of it. You can also keep listening to the built in DAB while using the Car Play for directions - very useful if you have low data.
The reactions are a little bit slow but probably quicker than the build in nav so it's no big headache.
Please note, these ONLY work with the post 2012 D4 with Bosch screen. If you have a 2011 or older with the Denso screen, it won't work.
