| AGM battery. Charger recommendations. |

Hello all, as the title says really.
I am looking to keep my battery on trickle charge when parked up and wondering what people recommend for an AGM battery.

Hi,
have you tried the "Search" button as its been asked a few times, there is a list of chargers compiled
search for "battery chargers agm discovery link" and you should find a few options,
here is one from the past I spotted and they have been back in stock a few times since not sure if still in the store now  or what price Golden syrup is now

Ctek for me too.
They have been around for many many years, took over from very expensive Victron & Sterling chargers in the marine world, and are used in critical equipment scenarios where it is imperitive that diesel generator engines will start if needed.
I have used them for over 20 years, had them hard wired in all my trucks that could spend a week or more parked up, with the driver 'living' in them for that time, and unable to fire the engine up.
Only ever had 1 die on me, but suspect the steam clean and then a -10c night didn't help matters.
Don't buy a 3 or 5 amp charger unless it's for a motorbike, and it should last a lifetime.

Lol, to that one, Riverblanche! Yesterday, I had the Ctek out of its home in the D3 wheel arch cubby and also wrote "Golden Syrup" on the kitchen notice board, as I was nearly at the bottom of the tin after my breakfast of sourdough pancakes! I had never realised that there was any connection between these two well-loved items!  Previously:

I have used Cteks for years.
I have 3 in use, one for stand-by generator, and the two others for classic MGs, one of which is also used from time to time for my D4 & 350SL.
All are more than 6 years old, the oldest probably 15 years old, and all work perfectly.

Liddle have Ctek copies made in Germany 3.5amp £15, they will do the job just as well as a Ctek. It can when others can't,

If the OP is looking for maintenance/trickle charge capability wouldn't the 3 or 5 amp be fine? Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Like others I went with the CTEK MXS 5.0 along with a 2.5m extension cable and the CTEK to standard Towing Electrics adapter so during COVID I could leave the car on maintenance charge constantly easily without having to pop the bonnet. Has worked well for me since

Highlands - the little chargers will do the job, however, the faster/greater the charge, the better it is for the battery as this has the effect of cleaning the plates.
It's like cleaning barnacles off the hull of a boat with a soft brush (you'll be there all day), however a wire brush will do the job better, and in half the time.

I like the analogy! At the rate things rust in the Highlands, I wouldn't be surprised if we all had barnacles in our batteries up here! Previously:
