Presets or favourites for live value monitoring
Hi all,
Just ordered a GAP IID (at last! Don’t tell SWMBO…) for diagnosing, calibrating, all the things they do.
I was just wondering, being mostly unfamiliar with the app at this point, if it’s possible to make up live value “favourites list” for quick access when the inevitable moment occurs. Also if I can set these lists up without the device connected, from the comfort of the sofa etc.
I (still…) have a couple of niggles to sort out on the D3 and have various ideas as to what’s causing them but the cheap and cheerful Autel doesn’t have the most intuitive live values display method so I’ve taken the plunge.

Yes you can make a "favourites list" or a number of them for different modules etc. If you remain "logged in" you can see how this works using "demo mode"
If you plug the tool into a lap top or tablet (power it up) you should be able to set up your own favourites for the "actual" usage of the tool. It may be possible to do it without tool connection to a lap top but I've never tried it. You don't need the tool for demo mode.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks PROFSR G. I’ll have a play with demo mode tonight. This should make the parts cannon I have been firing a lot more focused! More of a cluster bomb so far…

You mention shipping from Canada - Think that GAP recommend buying in UK to avoid import taxes....

Successfully cancelled and reordered through Island 4x4 (PayPal payment option and reasonable shipping rates to the highlands, both winners in my book), and it’s here!

Excellent!
Don't fall into the trap of treating the data as gospel when you look at fault codes. For example a low battery voltage can trigger loads of faults. A particular fault code might be the cause of your issue, or might be a symptom of an other issue that is then causing conditions that bring another sensor into fault.

Yes, I have read a lot about the battery causing cascading issues, along with the brake switch and even bulbs throwing limp mode etc, so I’m going to be cautious before firing the parts cannon.
The Disco doesn’t get used an awful lot at the moment, so lives backed up to the workshop, plugged into a NOCO charger through the towing socket (thanks to Martin and the shop for that nifty cable!) most of the time. Though I do need it tip top for our holiday at the end of March, so I’ve got time.
I’ll need to unplug and let it rest a bit before trying to diagnose much, but the everlasting bing will require a journey as it only occurs when up to operating temperature. And no codes are thrown up At least, none that the Autel could see, which was lots. 77 the first time I plugged that in… mostly historic thankfully!D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey

I found that an old Ipad on the dash with relevant live values trending could be glanced at while you drive (or get a friend/wife to drive while you look at data). Then you can see what is happening as the bing goes off. However there are loads of sensors, so you need to find what part of the car is causing the bing (ideally from a code) and then go from there.
I also found that looking at sensor values while the car is idling and warm is useful - you can see what 'doesn't look right', either from a basic value or how or reacts when the car is driven.Series one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)

Plan is to drive up to temperature, pull over, set a few suspect live values recording, drive to the next lay-by counting the bings and go over the data looking for (hopefully) any corresponding number of anomalies. The bing is persistent as revs rise and fall (gear changes) so it won’t be hard to not get a few in several hundred yards.
Roads around here are dead quiet this time of year, I can always take a single track road just be out of the way.
Then I can also look into my suspension issue and the random right-hand bend traction control activations (which I’m hoping is steering angle sensor needing calibrated).
Should be an enlightening hour or so….

Have come to trying to search where the fault is on my fuel level sensor and cannot for the life of me work out how to get my Gap IID to show me anything other than a “quick list” of live values on the body control module.
It tells me that I have full live values but for example on the body control ecu I only have battery replacement resets.
On the other categories I have many more values just not on the body control?

That doesn't look right! But I see that first pic shows a "Full Mode" and "Full Live Values" at the top which I've never seen and an "Update Device Info", so I wonder if your software or app is not up to date?Previously:
