Engine System Fault message on Start up and low MPG. |
|
Hi everyone, I own a 2005 Land Rover Discovery 3, 2.7TDV6, HSE. My vehicle was left standing for a few Months while I had treatment for Cancer. The Day I went to start my Discovery 3 my Discovery Turned over slowly once. So I put the battery on change for the day and following morning went back to start the Discovery. After connecting the battery up it started first time but a warning message saying Engine System Fault appeared on first start up. I thought it was the Turbo Actuator arm needed some lubrication .This weekend Just gone I lubricated the actuator arm and it was moving nice and freely. I’ve also noticed now my fuel consumption has increased from 24MPG and it’s now dropped to 15.5MPG. I’ve also noticed the exhausts I can smell diesel. Someone has mentioned to me That throughout the years the Discovery 3 has been out the fuel pressure sensor often needed replacing when fuel consumption started too increase and sometime the Discovery 3 would go into Limp Home Mode. I’ve checked on my GAP11D tool for fault codes and only got the turbo actuator fault code coming up. So how hard is it to change the fuel pressure sensor and is there anything I should know before doing this job. Thanks for your advice.

You’re best off with your own thread.
I don’t think a 2005 has a fuel sensor?
I would check the injector offsets while it’s idling
