Hi I have a recently acquired MY16 (June 2016 registered) Landmark D4 on 31k miles.
Is there a LR extended warranty option still available for it or is the car too old now?
I will soon be requiring replacement battery and brakes. So wondering if I should keep it to LR brands for qualifying for warranty.

That is non LR so I assume they don’t care about originality of parts (as long as specification)?
I’m familiar with other other brands like Porsche where the manufacturer extended warranty is extremely finicky about all parts needing to be to original manufacturer brand (even if they are consumables and not covered by the warranty!)

If you bought the vehicle from a main dealer then you should be able to extend the warranty.
If it was purchased from elsewhere then my understanding is that it would need to go through their approved vehicle inspection, at a cost. I suspect that as they had not sold the car this would likely be more thorough than if they were selling it
We realised long ago that short of a major failure of the engine/gearbox, which with a 6yr old vehicle they would wriggle out of, the warranties don't make that much sense for most issues. We have therefore taken out the additional breakdown repair cover in our AA membership which covers for up to £500 a claim at just over £100 a year per vehicle. Thus far we have made a claim each year - or at least Disco-Mikey has on our bahelf, and there is no requirement to use genuine LR parts for all consumable items etc from what I understandCurrently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Lots on the forum about warranties but I have been more than happy with Warranty Direct, paid out on all claims promptly.
I'll renew with them next year at this rate.

Personally from experience even if you dont use the extended warranty keep it all genuine and main dealer if the servicing already is . It will be your only hope if you suffer the biggest issue of crank failure . mine went at 67k on a 65 plate and they replaced the engine FOC (circa £14K) something the LR extended warranty would not have done as its not a LR product just marketed as if it is.

I had an engine replaced under LR named extended warranty, as there is an invoice, it’s covered for two years in itself. LR covered the cost of a 6 week car hire via goodwill gesture.

LR extended warranty will not pay out for a snapped crank they have to be dealt with under good will.

Fair to say that if you have a main dealer service history and LR branded warranty your chances of receiving goodwill will be far greater. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I think the vehicle must be under 10 years old and definitely under 100,000 miles at the time the LR extended warranty begins.
I’ve always chosen to buy it, along with the Land Rover Assist option. The later I’ve found very useful over the years, I’ve had many minor issues fixed at home/office by LRA. Much quicker and easier than going to a dealer.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Warranty Direct was bought from BNP Baribas by Firstbase future Marketing Ltd a couple of years ago, no idea how they deal with claims vs BNP, I've still some warranty covered by BNP and had to deal with them, which was no problem as the warranty didn't transfer over to the new company.
It's probably mentioned in more detail elsewhere on the forum!

My policy is/was with BNP Paribas and expires on 1st March - I got a letter from WD new owners - FirstBase Future Marketing Ltd yesterday saying it was expiring.
Sadly they advised that "your vehicle does not meet our eligibility criteria". Which given it is way under 120k and 12 years must be the make and model.
I called them just now and that is correct. They do not cover the Discovery 4.
However and luckily, I called BNP and the policy is still in force with them so I logged a claim with them whilst on the phone
Best I get a large piggybank and start filling it up instead. In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

I had the WD warranty on both my Disco”s and never had to claim, moved over to Volvo, something inside made me call WD, took out the policy, £340, and £250 excess, ten months in I had a claim, new compressor on the suspension the same time, new adblue tank and sensor, plus fitting etc, WD, become involved after securing a goodwill gesture from Volvo of £1100, once the dealer found out about WD they withdrew the goodwill offer, WD didn’t seem bothered, I paid the dealer, scanned the invoice, sent to WD and the £2200 in my bank in 48hrs and even though it is what I’d call two claims, WD classed it as one, £250 short of the full amount.

Extended warranty
Hi, I have just received my LR extended warranty for my 2016 LR4 with a cost of £1440.00 it states engine is covered. Earlier messages on this state it’s not. I think I will call them to clarify before I do anything else. I have until next month before I need to pay them.

I bough a D5 for my sins and wanted a warranty from Septemeber 2023.
Just a follow up on the subject of warranties. My original quote from Motoreasy was in the region of £1500 a few months back to start in September 2023. Just had a phone call and email from them quoting 18 months from September covering just about everything for £485 with h £50 excess per claim. Why do I not believe them.6 LRs last one 2009 HSE D3.
Current D5 HSE LUX 2019.
