Good morning all , my 2014 D4 LR extended warranty runs out in March, it’s been at a cost of £6000 since 2019 but I have had piece of mind having it, my concern is that the end of march it will run out and as I tour Europe with the tin hut 80 day holiday starts in July, my question is should I just take out break down cover and take the chance, or is there any recommendations my brother as warranty with warranty wise on his rrs and they would not cover the cracked inlet manifold cracking, I am at 99100 miles today, I love this car, but with health issues I have had to finish work, so I need to be sensible with my finances, I am capable of doing repairs on my driveway but obviously age and space will not allow me to do all that could be required , any suggestions would be greatly appreciated many thanks

Seems like you have answered your own question. I’d take the breakdown cover personally.

Have you tried renewing the LR extended warranty early, whilst it’s still below 10 years old and 100k miles?
It may well be incorrect, but I was told that was possible by a service receptionist at a main dealer. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

2014 D4 HSE (Almost too bling)-GONE
2015 D4 HSE (A heated what?)-GONE
2016 D4 Landmark (Written Off)-GONE

Agree with LT ref 100k limit
Also check out what breakdown covers are available. Some of them include an element of support for paying for repairs - usually to a limited threshold of £500 or so but that can make a difference for a relatively modest sum. As Disco-Mikey will confirm, we have made very good use of that facility from time to time!
My current concern is that our vehicles are now of an age that getting breakdown cover for Europe is something of a challenge. Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)

110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)

Today I renewed the lr extended warranty on my D4 as I am at 99500 miles could only get the select warranty which will start the end of march when the current warranty expires, so I get to keep my lovely D4 for another year with a little piece of mind, thank you for your responses

Out of interest, is the warranty you have transferable should you sell the vehicle? Jim

I believe it is transferable but not sure, I just don’t want to let her go, but next year she might have to if I can’t get another warranty on her
