Rear DIFF- Driveshaft seal TZB500100 |
|
Good day to all
i should replace the driveshaft seals for the rear diff (i have noticed very light leaks onto the axl - 160K miles up to now )
Do you know whether this an easy job?? Or the differential has to be dismantled???
Cheers

Just remove the driveshaft and then the seal, they are a bit tricky to insert as you need a big socket or tube to knock the new seal in, I used to use a long 1/2 inch socket extension with a big socket.
Mark the top hub suspension bolt position and remove the rear tie rod bolt, this will allow the shaft to come out of the wheel hub, then you need two levers to lever the shaft from the diff, no need to drop the oil but with a leak you do need to top it up when finished.
