Engine/Transmission Amber Light on, advice needed, ok to use
So, when I got in the D4 last night the Engine/Transmission (Amber) light came on.
Drove it for 100 yards all seemed ok.
Its booked in for a service on Wednesday 7th Feb, should I or can I drive it until then?
No restricted performance or any pre warning of this.
Garage closed until Monday so can't get advice from them.
Any advice most welcome.
Thanks
Phil

Yeah it's very likely fine, the amber light (engine management) means there is a fault which is affecting the cars emissions output, which is why it's amber and not red!!
The diagnostics at the garage service will reveal the problem, but it is possible that you could have the power restricted depending on the type of fault.
Just for info, if you had any red light you would definitely not drive it!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks for that, good advice .
That was my way of thinking really.
I have had 6 x D3 / D4 and you sort of get used to the warnings but this seemed a bit of a weird one as its all running ok.
I will update when it goes in for its service.
If anyone else has a view please let me know.
Thanks again, Phil

Wonder whether it might be worth checking you Adblue range left. Any messages?
This seemed to occur in the early mileage history of adblue models and was solved with a software patch.
Good luck sortingGary

Ad blue is all good so I’m presuming it’s a EGR valve problem.
I will update when it’s sorted and diagnostics are done.

No, the AA provided them, I thought I would get them out to try and claim something for the repair through their Workshop insurance policy.
They have to attended the car and be unable to repair it to claim.

Well, you are braver than I.
I have owned JLR products since the early ‘90s… and only the JLR authorized or acknowledged may touch my vehicles.

It’s in at a JLR dealer now so in good hands but it all looks it’s going to be an expensive one possibly.
