Odd plug behind grill

Removed the front grill today to clear a leaf buildup and found an odd plug behind the grill.

I am familiar with the empty plugs from full feature looms where devices are not fitted and the plug in a stowage blank.

What is odd about this one is all the cables are black indicating they are earths, all about the same size, 5 of the 6 way plug used with an infill on the 6th.

Anyone know what this is for?
A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

try searching "what's this plug for behind the grille?"

or speed up the search and try "smog" ,"Japanese" or "Chinese" connector.

Just waiting for the "just had a look for mine and found a thing with an exhaust on it behind the headlight - what is it ?" response

After about 5 years or so, you finally make your way to the strange metal weights under the rear bumper Laughing

Did yours have an a-bar at one point? Could be for additional lighting?

No witness mark that I can find for anything having been fitted and removed.

I see on another thread there is a 12v feed, what confused me is all the wires being black. In theory that makes them earth so not ideal if one is indeed 12v but useful to know.

It's for a smog detector to detect traffic fumes and automatically set the climate fan to recycle.

While sensors are cheap (from jaguar XF), a different climate button panel is used and retrofit is not always successful
