Does transfer align to my car’s VIN |
|
So I now have a second hand IID tool (BT G3) and paid GAP for a transfer of ownership.
I’ve also now unlocked the tool using a code they sent me. However what’s not clear is if this means my car now has full access via the tool for CCf etc?
The VIN shown on the tool is not my car.
Have I misunderstood what is needed? I assumed a TFo allowed me full access on my vehicle? 1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

I'm not sure if your process is the same as I did when I changed cars, but in my case the old VIN remained on the tool and I had to pair the Tool to the new car the first time I used it. Thereafter it simply asks if you want to pair to the last used Vehicle.
Also, if you pair it to some random LR, then that VIN loads, pairs (but doesn't allow full functionality) and stores in the memory. Next time you try to use the Tool it starts with last-used and you need to re-pair it to your own vehicle again.
So once it is speaking to you as the user, you should be able to pair it to any (LR) vehicle's VIN and then establish that as the VIN covered by the GAP Tool Licence. Previously:

I've just been through this. Follow the transfer download pdf to the word. The last owner will need to email GAP they have sold it, and you need to request to unlock it. Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales
