Intermittent fault warning lights |
|
Hi Guys
A couple of months ago I removed the steering column (Electronic) on my HSE, D3 to repair the broken SAS ring to ensure that the Araldite fix was carried out thoroughly and correctly as at my age, I am not as agile for lying in the cramped space on my back !! The angle was recalibrated afterwards and reset to zero deg. all went well and the previous warning light appearances were sorted.
Last week we went over to the UK (500 mile trip each way) and the car drove perfectly until a couple of days after arrival when the SAS, adjacent light and brake warning light came in together with Special Programs off and Suspension Lowered messages on the display. Stopped the car, reset the ignition and everything was normal' 10 minutes or so later the fault reappeared, this happened frequently during the week. On Thursday last we drove back home with the same issues until we stopped for a coffee break approximately 2 hours from home. The car then did the final leg without issues since.
Yesterday, I rechecked the SAS setting and it was -1.06 deg, which I recalibrated although I consider that the sensor is working correctly. Ran a full DTC check on all systems and no faults were logged, also reset the HS & MS Canbus systems. The battery is fine and the Alternator output is good (Replaced with new Denso last year).
The car was fully loaded on the trip home but no more than previous trips.
Any thoughts or input would be appreciated
PS.
Lifted the bonnet yesterday and the gas struts decided to fail. Now the mileage has just hit the 200K mark I suspect the Gremlin ECU has been activated Relocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021
