Replace radio unit, amp & nav screen.
Hi all,
Been reading threads & not spotted an answer to my proposed plan. Apologies if it's here & I've missed it, but theres a lot of stuff here!
I have a D3 SE model, Harman Kardon sound system (not logic 7) which I understand is the high line (silver amp under drivers seat).
I'm looking to install a double din android auto head, &I know I will be bypassing the amp.
My sat nav is playing up, & that's going to be removed as well. The nav screen doesn't have any other functions (other than system settings such as language).
My question is this, if I remove the head, amp & nav screen, do I need to retain the optical link or is that redundant? I'd prefer to rip it all out, but will that impact on any other systems please? Tia
Yes the radio is the main network hub for the optics, there are a lot of posts on here that cover all of this.

As Flack says the MOST system is just for the infotainment, I.e. head unit, screen, sat nav and amp. If you're removing the HU, the rest is redundant so the wiring in could be removed, but I wouldn't bother as it does no harm and gives the option to reinstate the system if needs be.
When I did mine I fitted the HU at the top for a better viewing angle.

Ok, thanks for the assistance. I shall probably leave it in but all disconnected, makes sense!
