Loadspace courtesy light
The loadspace light has stopped working in my D4. The lamp and the socket are corroded so fitting a new bulb only has an intermittent contact.
I notice that there are all number of similar LED based entire fittings for a number of different cars which are similar. Before I replace it with a standard LR lampholder/lense has anyone found a LED based one that fits.
I still want to fit better lighting in the back but was aiming to use a separate switched set and leave the original light for occasional use.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

Powerful uk have led lights for the interior, unfortunately they seem to sell them in pairs which is expensive, or search the forum, I'm sure someone has found the same light but cheaper.

I’ve seen the interior of pick up hardtop illuminated with self adhesive led strip lights. It was impressive.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I guess that you would like to avoid the expense of a genuine light fitting but if not or you can obtain a recovered one then led bulbs can be fitted. A worthwhile improvement in all the interior lights. About £7 for 10 on eBay.
Additionally after 19 years it was only last week that I discovered that my S spec car has lights fitted above and to the side of the 3rd row of seats. These seats are rarely used and I have never sat back there myself.
These are controlled by switches in the light fittings. I plan to fit led bulbs in these as well.

A new one is hardly going to break the bank but was just thinking could I replace it with a LED panel that would fit, I was using a LED T10 bulb anyway. It is a bit daft that half of the light just illuminates the space behind the headlining as it is.
I might try making up a reflector to go behind the bulb and see the effect.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
Mine all have a bit of aluminium beer can behind them.
Admittedly it's a pain drinking all the beer to facilitate this, but I just feel it's my duty to do so.
Takes about 25 prototypes to get it right .

Fitted a LED panel over the existing lamp. The large multi LED area coupled with a diffraction cover produces a fairly even light over the entire boot floor.

The light is more even than the photo shows and gives good illumination right up to the seat backs. Being slim it would be easy to fit a cowl if it is too bright in the rear view mirror but also has its own on/off switch.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV.
