No power, no boost pressure but no black smoke
Hi folks,
my D3 (2005, 190 TKM) has an issue. Really no power (until 3000 RPM). no boot pressure.
There is no black smoke from the exhaust.
Actuator on the turbocharger is working (just checked)
IMHO: no black smoke: There is no leakage on the boot pressure hoses.
Shall I take the task to change the turbocharger or is there any other idea?
Best André

Possibly faulty EGR's, MAP/MAF sensors, turbo pressure loss due to split or leaking pipework, blocked air filter, etc amongst other possibilities.
You need to have the diagnostic codes read which should point you in the right direction.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

IID Tool shows no faultcodes
The reading of the fault codes with IID Tool doesn't show up any issues

There's a few things you could try in the absence of any codes to see if it makes any improvement.
Apart from the obvious pipework/intercooler inspection a temporary blanking of the EGR pipes might be worthwhile, as the EGR's are a common failure which kill engine power at low revs. Clogging of the inlet manifolds is another EGR issue which restricts airflow and gums up the MAP sensor. You could try cleaning the sensor with carb or brake cleaner, but do not poke anything into it.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Next Steps
I have cleaned and checked the MAP sensors with a manual air pump. Working. Shows 0.997 bar and a bit less at higher revolutions.
Getting the engine warm and running at 3000 rpm the power gets back again.
I have a EGR blanking kit so I can blank it at the manifold. (It's just guessing).
Problem occured more suddenly than over weeks. I was pulling a trailer (750 kg) and wondered about the impossibility of acceleration.

It does not sound like you have a major issue going on as there would definitely be fault codes logged.
Blanking the EGR's will rule them out and you can move on to other possibilities. Is your oil level remaining steady?
It would be very helpful if you could advise what work you have already carried out, and therefore avoid unnecessarily repeating it! yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

What about the crossover pipe? When mine had a leak it had no power, but no codes or black smoke. If it is, you can usually smell exhaust gas in the engine bay.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Solved - but strange
Hi folks.
according to "PROFSR G" I did it step by step.
Since I had an EGR blanking kit already in the shelf I blanked the EGRs.
That was an one hour work since I already removed a lot of things in the engine bay (keeping al vital for engine running).
I started the engine after blanking and I noticed that the RPMs are going better with pressing the accelerator pedal as before.
A short joyride shows that the D3 was agile again as before.
So thanks for the assistance and always come home with your Discovery.
A question left..... The manifold pressure sensor kept by 1 bar. I will check it during the ride again, But what is a typical value?
Best, André

Manifold reading at idle is correct, it will only change depending on load and turbo boost. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
