Bumped car
Just got to laugh at all of these people on their local fb pages crying because someone bumped their car while it was parked on the road overnight and not owned up.
The simple solution is don’t park on the road when the car is not in use.

Assuming one has anywhere else to park it, of course.
A friend in the village had her car side-swiped whilst it was parked outside her house on the road. There is nowhere else to park it. Luckily, the driver that did the damage left their details and all was sorted (albeit a write-off and buy-back thanks to the age/value of the car).
We moved (within the village) partly to get off road parking but mostly to have a bigger garden for the dogs. But we're fortunate to have been able to do that. Many aren't so fortunate.
It's generally legal to park on the road (various conditions/variations/caveats apply, of course).
Is victim shaming still a thing? Apparently so.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I do realise that but with so many cars something has to be done about it.
We pay a lot of taxes to use the roads and I expect to be able to use all of them.

Roads come out of general taxation. The carless worker on £40k who takes the bus pays towards the roads just as you do.
As for expecting to use all of the road, do you park on double yellows, or school zig-zags? You pay for the road so why not?Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

What annoys me is the plonkers who park with 2 wheels on a pavement to keep the road clear! Poor mummy with a pushchair now has to walk in the road to get past.

I presume the car was legally allowed to park on the road having paid its road tax.....

I live in a quiet Hampshire village. The derelict property we bought 22 years ago has no vehicle access so we park on the road. No problems until February this year when some kind soul smashed into the rear - vehicle written off. Oh, and drove off without leaving details
I had to claim on my insurance. I'm not on Fb but I think I've got a right to complain.

Laughing at them crying about having their cars damaged not that their cars were damaged.
If their car wasn’t parked on the road it probably wouldn’t have been hit. Yes it bad that the perpetrators drove off.
I know that the roads are payed for out of general taxation but it’s still a fact motorists pay even more. To make things worse some have to pay more than others just because some politician says so.
In some areas the streets are so clogged with cars that it virtually makes them one way streets.
I wonder how many of these people observe Highway Code rule 239 242 249 & 248

Only in an alternative universe where laughing at someone's misfortune having had their car damaged whilst legally parked is funny. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
