Evening gents.
Please tell me if this has been covered before. Here goes.
Lots of mighty fine D4’s for sale, crazy cheap but all with the crank snapped.
My next project could be an engine swop however please note
1. I have average skills but it would be within my capabilities.
2. I don’t have a four post lift but I do have a single garage.
3. With minor changes the engines are freely available in other JLR products.
My question is this. Can the engine be removed through the front? Using an engine hoist? Anybody done it?
I’m usually way behind the curve on these things. I seem to remember somewhere that the crossover pipe is the problem (cut it off and fit new)?

It's been done, LR Time has a video on it. Tight, but not impossible.

If you decide to go ahead, keep us posted with pictures. It would be great to see your progress, troubles, and victories.
Good luck! Craig.

I have a workshop and two post lifts, but out of curiosity I refitted and engine with gearbox in through the front. The most difficult aspect to me, was achieving the steep/exact angle required tight againt the bulkhead, with all that weight on the engine crane. However, with patience and due attention to safety it can be done. Chris
