EPB
Bought a Discovery 4 TDV6 HSE MY 2013.
Unfortunately the EPB was kaputt.
The seller included a new EPB which I just had installed.
Workshop told me it was not a LR original. Unsure from where it came. China?
Anyway it works but the sound it makes is different from the original and it was difficult to get the shoes adjusted properly.
The problem remaining is that the red warning lights up when starting. Handbrake not on.
To get the light to disappear I have to apply handbrake and then release.
No error code.

Did you code the new EPB to the vehicle?
The EPB is VIN locked so if you haven't coded it via diagnostics the car won't recognise it and that may be your issue. It should still work ok though despite the warning light. As for the unusual sound if it's a squeal the shoe's are maladjusted or module calibration is incorrect. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi Profsr,
The workshop would have known, but maybe not.
As it is not a LR original please tell how I should code it with diagnostic. Have GAP II.
Do not think it was VIN coded when bought.
And yes it seems to work. But the warning is annoying.Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

Scan the module whilst the warning light is present, the tool should be able to confirm if its a vin coding issue or not.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Have done GAP II faults and there are no fault codes.
Do clear fault codes but as there are no fault code the warning light is not going off.
The only way to make it disappear is applying the parking brake and then release it.
It lights when starting and despite this the parking brake is off.
How do I scan the module?
Are there any settings?
Or should I do something with the CCF/ECU settings?Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

Make sure you have "pending" faults selected in the tool, then scan as you would do normally with the fault lamp showing and see if anything bounces back.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

If you select from the main menu ECU INFOs >PARKING BRAKE MODULE.
This open the information for the EPB and if you look down the list you will see the serial number of the module and the VIN to which it is registered. The question is are you looking at what was the original EPB module or the replacement?
You could try and look for the label on the module and see if the serial numbers match.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

This is the information I get, the module is on the car so it is difficult to look at the label:
No VIN number
Assembly (F112)

Hardware (F111)
AH22-14C261-AE = AH22-14C261-AD

OK so given the missing VIN it looks as if your module is not coded to the car, which might explain the warning light.
If you have a GAP IID you can code it but I wouldn't loose any sleep over it so long as it works. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

EPB update
Now get a flashing parking brake light on the instrument display.
Get a note that the handbrake is released and can be engaged by lifting the handle.
But this does not work. The handbrake cannot be engaged and released any more. It did until now.
GAP gives an error code C1A47. Did not from the beginning of the installation.
Not possible to delete.
Is there a fix for this?
Can I use any of the GAP solutions?
Would it help to take the EPB fuse out for a while or do a reset on the battery?Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

Check the module is locked correctly in it's locating bracket, otherwise it can throw the force sensor out of whack when the handbrake is actuated. (module moving!)
OEM module or cheap aftermarket unit?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

the new module is non genuine.
It is fixed tight.
Got the new module it when I bought the car with faulty EPB. The earlier mechanic had cut the cables. Therefore the change to the new unit.
When looking at the faulty unit, the cable with the screw part was fully screwed in and a tight fit.
I am thinking of refurbishing the original unit with new cables and sensor. The motor and gears seems to be smooth when turning manually.
Could I go for non original cables?
