Wow, I’m watching it thinking thank god you were in a Discovery looking at the damage to yours. I’m glad you can put it behind you at long last.

Love the suspense sentence bit, not. He’s basically free to do the same again.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. That's all that matters.
I read somewhere once something along the lines of "if you are going to be in an accident with a Land Rover 4x4, make sure you are sat in it"
"Track day running - Don't put your foot back on the accelerator until your absolutely sure you don't have to take it off again"

That looked very nasty - and as others have said, could've been a lot nastier had you been in a vehicle with less of a physical presence. So glad you came out of it without any serious damage.
I hope you get yourself a good lawyer and absolutely take him to the cleaners to recover every single penny that this has cost you - replacement vehicle, compensation for the (no doubt considerable) time spent dealing with it and the inconvenience it's caused you, the cost of any physical therapy which might've been required to deal with any injuries or trauma, and so on. A short ban and a suspended sentence isn't enough - hit the tw*t where it really hurts, in his pocket. I'm not generally a fan of the 'litigation culture' which has gained so much traction in the UK in recent times - but in this case, I wish you well! I abhor drink-drivers with every fibre of my being.

Good to hear everyone is ok but looking at the dashcam it could take a long time to overcome the mental trauma
Just a pity the sentencing is so lenient given the police comments but that seems to be the norm these days"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag'em down to your level. It's cheaper".

What speed were you doing at the time of the accident and what was the estimated speed of the other vehicle?

Saw this on the BBC website before I came to this site, thought the dashcam vehicle was a Discovery, I'm glad you were both okay. After seeing the amount of damage to the D4, it did it's job in protecting you.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
1999 Discovery 2 TD5 ES Rioja Red, sold
2002 Discovery 2 TD5 ES Buckingham Blue, sold
2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Adriatic Blue, sold
2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver, sold
2011 Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE Nara Bronze, sold
2016 Volvo XC60 D5 AWD Lux Nav Twilight Bronze, sold
2020 Range Rover Evoque P250 First Edition, Nolita grey, sold
2023 Range Rover Evoque P300e Autobiography, Carpathian grey
Thanks for all the kind comments. My wife and I got away without any broken bones fortunately. The passenger in the other vehicle had many broken bones unfortunately. The D4 certainly saved us from much worse and I’m actually glad in a way that he hit me, could have been a lot worse for instance if it was one of my children’s hatchbacks.
It was a 30mph zone, I pretty much braked to a standstill, the emergency services estimated an impact speed of around 90mph!
I was awarded the maximum amount of compensation and not really worth pursuing further as he’s not been able to work since the crash.
