Looking for buying advice

Hopefully this in the correct board... apologies if not!

I'm thinking of buying a 64 plate Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE with 154,000 miles and I wondered if anyone had any experience on what I should be looking for in terms of things might go wrong at that mileage. It looks pretty good visually and the MOT history check doesn't highlight anything hideous (from what I can see), but I've been bitten before with a Disco4, so thought I'd research a little more this time... Anything would be helpful!

The engines done well to get to that mileage

Don’t expect it to last much longer. On the other hand you may have a good engine!

Make sure it’s cheap and that you can afford to replace the whole car if it breaks

I guess knowing the signs of what makes a good one is the trick Laughing

Thanks for your reply £10k doesn't seem over the top for it, but I'm nervous about the engine just letting go as soon as I buy it!

One major risk is that of the SDV6 crankshaft breaking and the cost then of fitting fitting a replacement engine.

The problem in quantifying the risk of the crankshaft breaking is establishing the percentage of engines that this has actually occurred on (i.e. the probability of the risk occurring).

Is it 1 in 10, 1 in 100 or 1 in 1,000?
