Water, Dirt & Fuel - Filter
Local magazines often carry an advert for the Racor fuel filter products.
With water getting into fuel storage (esp in our beloved Africa!) this looks like a practical yet simple solution to make sure you get the fuel in "clean".
Anyone out there actually used one of these before?
Cost is around R400 for large unit.

The Racor marine glass bowl ones allow you to visually check fuel as it flows and easily drain water off...never go to sea with out at least one in the fuel system...not sure of any local regs that may apply to automotive applicatiosn though end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Given my bad experience with dirty diesel on my very first trip with the D3, I desperately need something like this. My only "first aid" at present is a funnel with sieve and spare fuel filter.
Leaving for Kgalagadi end of the month and although I will be very careful of where to fill up on Diesel - I still need some more assurance.
Can we ty for group purchase ?

OK, so here goes.... website where you can view the product offerings:
Click on left - Racor Fuel Filters, then on Funnels. Gives you the complete lowdown.
Price check is R410 for a large unit.
What I'm willing to do is organise a group buy and see if we can get some discount, assume we will require at least 5 takers on this though.

Some people watch things happen, some people make things happen, some people wonder what heppened......
Had to get one before my last trip so I'm sorted.
I used it (the large one) whenever I decanted from the jerry cans - works well with Jerry can on roof rack and diesel siphoned via plastic tube of +- 1,5cm diameter. The flow is is filtered quick enough preventing the funnel overflowing.
I see they now have a new model - same size but with flow rate. Depending on cost I do not believe a faster flow rate is required unless you are going to use it often filtering from a actual fuel pump.
